Our hybrid carbon fiber tubes are composed of an inner core of fiberglass and an outer weave of carbon fibers to combine the advantages of different fibers and optimize specific properties. The glass fibers inside provide additional toughness, while the outer layer of carbon fiber retains the aesthetic and structural benefits of this material, also protecting the inner layers from external influences.

 

Between the fibers is a resin matrix that holds the fibers together and ensures load transfer. Hybrid rods are slightly heavier and softer than their pure carbon fiber counterparts. However, they offer a good compromise for building a robust kite that is light and stiff enough to be used over a wide wind range, providing good value for money.

 

We offer the hybrid rods in diameters of 4, 5, and 6 mm, each in lengths of 82.5 and 120 cm. The decision for the 120 cm length is based on optimizing shipping costs and reducing packaging material, which also contributes to sustainability.
The hybrid rod with a diameter of 4 mm is a solid rod, while all rods with larger diameters are tubes.
